I wanted to get Moms out of the house again! Moms spend so much time second-guessing themselves as Mothers, wishing they had more mom-friends, and feeling isolated at home on maternity leave. Let's get out and enjoy being women, but stay attached to our babies!
I have three girls, aged 1, 4 and 6. l am at-home (well, more like carting them around town to school, gymnastics and playdates!) with them.
So let's meet. Let's go get a coffee, appreciate some art, learn from an expert about beauty, fashion and definitely, parenting.

When my son was born in October of 2008, I started connecting with a few other first-time Moms who were home with their newborns on maternity leave during the winter months. We all shared the same wish: to get out of the hosue and find great activities that would allow us to meet other Moms and enjoy time with our children. From there, people started sharing ideas with me about wanting to go on organized walks, attend meet-ups and interesting events along with other new Moms (with babies and children in tow of course). After searching for sometihng along these lines but not quite finding what I had envisioned, I decided in Spring of 2009, to found the Edmonton Mom & Tots Stroller Club and organize events myself. Today this club has grown to over 250 members.
During my adventures in new-motherhood, I came across a Modern Mama postcard and decided to contact Connie. I was happy to discover that Modern Mama provides the kind of amazing and exciting events that I and other new Moms are looking for and loved the concept of nanny service for the younger babies. I was also very excited to discover someone who had a similar vision and goals as I did! Today I am proud and excited to join the Modern Mama team and help to organize exciting events for new Mamas and Mamas-to-be about art, fashion, lifestyle and parenting in the city of Edmonton.

I swore having kids wouldn't change me, so after the birth of my daughter in November 2009 I found it a little harder than I thought I would. I love to socialize and explore new things but that turned out to be harder when most places are not exactly child friendly. I still wanted to be the old me but don't want to sacrifice time with my baby either. I longed for things to do with her in tow when I stumbled upon Modern Mama. It was exactly what I was looking for... cool, interesting events for me and they were baby friendly... even offering nanny service. The only problem was that it was in Edmonton and I am in Calgary. I was so into the concept that I contacted Connie the rest is history ... welcome to Calgary – Modern Mama! I am really looking forward to creating awesome events for the Calgary area Mamas and Mamas-to-be where we can get out and escape WITH baby.
